West Gloucestershire Art Society is based in the Forest of Dean. We are an exhibiting group who provide ways for our members to exhibit their work at events that we arrange and at events arranged by others. Our focus is on exhibitions, not meetings. Members receive a newsletter with information on our events and other art-related activities in Gloucestershire and the Wye Valley. Our next exhibitions

  Our annual exhibition at the Shire Hall in Monmouth is on now! It runs from Wednesday 31st July until Saturday 3rd August.      A wide range of our members work is on show and for sale, and visitors can vote for their favourite artwork. The opening hours are 10.00 am to 4.30 pm (3.30 pm on Saturday) and admission is free. There is a public car park close to the Shire Hall. We look forward to seeing you!

Our next exhibition

Our next exhibition will be at the Studio Cinema, Coleford  over the Easter weekend, from Friday 30th March to Monday 2nd April. The Coleford Carnival of Transport will be taking place on Easter Monday, so there will be lots to see as well as our exhibition!   The Studio Cinema is in Coleford's High Street and admission to the exhibition is free.

Our August exhibition winners

We held our annual exhibition at Monmouth's Shire Hall from 2nd to 5th August, and prizes were awarded to commemorate Handel Protheroe, who re-formed the Society in the 1960's. This year the judges were Forest of Dean artist Doug Eaton and Darren Williams (tutor at Hereford College of Art). Art in Penallt 2014

There will be lots happening between 24th and 28th September when Art in Penallt 2014 is under way. There will be talks, demonstrations, an art exhibition by local students on Friday 26th, and on the weekend of 27th/28th local artists and makers will be giving demonstrations and selling their work from stalls in Babington Meadow.
