About WGAS

West Gloucestershire Art Society is based in the Forest of Dean.

We are an exhibiting group who provide ways for our members to exhibit their work at events that we arrange and at events arranged by others. Our focus is on exhibitions, not meetings. Members receive a newsletter with information on our events and other art-related activities in Gloucestershire and the Wye Valley.

Membership is open to all artists – there is no vetting procedure. All members can exhibit their work. Our subscription is just £12 per calendar year (pro-rata for new members for their first year only).

You can download a membership form here: Membership form

Our last exhibition

Our last event was  an exhibition at the Studio Cinema, Coleford  over the Easter weekend, 14th to 17th April, coinciding with the Coleford Carnival of Transport on Easter Monday.

Three or our members’ paintings were sold.  250 people voted for their favourite painting.

1st prize (£30) went to “Solitaire” by Audrey Mackie (also sold)
2nd prize (£20) went to ” Snail on the window” by Geoff Jennings
3rd prize (£10) went to “Emily 1″, by Helen Sladen

The other two sales were ”Alone in the city” and “Keith Richards”

The lucky draw for Cinema tickets went to a couple from the Coleford area.

Well done everyone who took part.
